Dear MoveOn member,
Yesterday, something happened that this country hasn't seen before.
At least 8 million people filled the streets at more than 3,300 No Kings protests in all 50 states—and around the world. It was the single largest day of protest in American history. And we did it together.
In the Twin Cities—where masked federal agents murdered two Americans earlier this year and terrorized an entire community for months—tens of thousands gathered. Bruce Springsteen was there. So were the families who lost loved ones and those still waiting to learn the fate of loved ones who were disappeared. So were neighbors who'd spent months showing up for each other, building something stronger from the wreckage of fear—communities that ICE tried to break and instead made unbreakable. Yesterday, they showed up in force.
That is what yesterday looked like. Beautiful. Powerful. Unstoppable.
And now comes the hard part.
Because here is the truth: No single day—not even the largest day of protest in U.S. history—stops authoritarianism. What stops authoritarianism is what comes after the march.
The sustained organizing. The community building. The first-time marcher who felt something shift in them yesterday but doesn't know where to go.
That is the gap MoveOn exists to close. Will you donate $9 right now to help us hire more organizers to close it? (If you have saved your payment information with ActBlue, your donation will go straight through.)
Because the research is clear. Few authoritarian governments have survived when 3.5% of their population mobilizes peacefully and keeps mobilizing.1 For the U.S., that's roughly 11 million people showing up, again and again, month after month.
Look at what we've built together:
- April 2025: 3 million people. 1,300 Hands Off! events.
- June 2025: 5 million people. 2,100 No Kings events.
- October 2025: 7 million people. 2,700 No Kings events.
- Yesterday: 8 million people. 3,300 No Kings events.
This movement isn't just growing. It is surging toward something this country has never seen—and that history tells us is powerful enough to work.
But the millions of people who marched yesterday? Some of them went home to communities without the infrastructure to keep them engaged. No local organization. No next meeting. No way in.
That's where MoveOn comes in—if we can hire more organizers. Will you donate $9 to MoveOn today to help us hire the organizers to build the sustained movement this moment demands? (If you have saved your payment information with ActBlue, your donation will go straight through.)
When we say "infrastructure," we mean the real, unglamorous, essential work: training volunteer organizers in every ZIP code. Building community to give people somewhere to belong. Running the phone banks and text banks that reach people who showed up once and need to be asked to come back. Developing the leaders who will be doing this work long after any single march is memory.
Every person who marched yesterday is a potential anchor of this movement in their community. Every one of them is someone who looked around at the faces of their neighbors and felt, maybe for the first time: I am not alone.
We cannot let that feeling dissipate. We have to build it into something durable. The moment of possibility is right now.
Can you chip in a $9 donation today right now to help build the sustained movement that will stop authoritarianism in America? (If you have saved your payment information with ActBlue, your donation will go straight through.)
Trump is counting on us to march, feel inspired, go home, and gradually drift back toward exhaustion and isolation. He wants us to feel like nothing we do matters.
Yesterday, 8 million of us answered that. Today, we answer it again—by building the movement that doesn't just show up for the big days but shows up every day, in ways big and small, until the work is done. We are not there yet. But we have never been closer. And this moment—right now, the day after—is when it matters most what we choose to do.
Thanks for all you do.

Want to support MoveOn's work? Donald Trump's authoritarian takeover intensifies every day—but history shows that authoritarian regimes crumble when just 3.5% of people rise up together in sustained resistance. That's why MoveOn is helping mobilize millions, from massive No Kings protests to our nonstop work to get ICE out of our neighborhoods. This moment demands mass, disciplined, people-powered resistance, and MoveOn can reach, train, and organize at a scale unmatched in the progressive movement. Will you chip in to fuel this urgent and critical organizing?
