Dear MoveOn member, Donald Trump just said that the U.S. government is not responsible for Medicaid, Medicare, or child care assistance, because "we have to take care of one thing: military protection."1 And he is already putting the voter-suppressing rules in place to get exactly what he wants: zero social service funding, free rein for corporate power, and a nation run by billionaire interests. Cassandra, the most important time to ensure that the voice of the people is heard isn't in November—it's right now, as the primary elections are taking place and Trump and the Epstein class are attacking our voting rights at every level. We know that our power lies in our collective vote: If we weren't so powerful, they wouldn't be trying so hard to silence us. MoveOn is devoting our people power to efforts that will stop Trump's voter suppression efforts and drive a new, inspiring vision of the U.S. that engages millions of people. But this is resource-intensive work, and we need everyone to pitch in now. We know that times are tough. But if you're able, will you start a monthly donation of $5 right now to help stop Trump's efforts to suppress millions of votes? Trump's comments about how it's "not possible" to fund essential government services because "we're fighting wars" is not one of his usual crazy rants.2 It's straight out of Project 2025, and he has an entire administration of Heritage Foundation-approved hacks working to make it happen.3 But they know that cutting Medicare, Medicaid, and SNAP is incredibly unpopular.4 So instead of risking his congressional majority at the polls with a free and fair election, Trump is pushing voter suppression policies that he says will "guarantee" Republicans elections.5 He is pushing Republicans to pass the SAVE Act, which would prevent millions of us from voting by requiring states to regularly purge their voter rolls and then requiring people to go through a mountain of red tape to get back on the rolls.6 He just signed an executive order trying to severely limit mail-in voting which, among other provisions, directs the Department of Homeland Security—which also runs ICE—to create a national registry of approved voters. Only Trump-approved voters on that registry would be allowed to receive mail-in ballots.7 And he's encouraged MAGA state legislators to pass 31 laws in the past year making it more difficult to vote. Some attacked mail-in ballots, discounting ballots received after Election Day. Others eliminated voting locations, shortened early voting periods, or instituted voter ID laws.8 Our efforts have so far stopped the SAVE Act from passing, and we're sounding the alarm about ALL of these voter suppression tactics to raise the grassroots pressure needed to fight back. Will you chip in $5 a month to keep this work going strong for as long as it takes? We're grateful to have you with us in the fight for voting rights. No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation. Voter protection could not be more important—it drives access to all of our other rights, whether free speech, reproductive rights, or the right to live our lives the way we want to. But this work is just one step. There are too many disengaged people out there who believe that Trump's policies are inevitable, and that even if he loses, corporate-owned politicians will always take office and protect the status quo over real change for working families. MoveOn is painting a different picture of the future—one where health care is funded over warfare, where addressing the affordability crisis is more important than where the stock market is, where policies like New Mexico's universal child care and Mississippi's canceling private school vouchers in favor of raises for public school teachers win the day. It's not just about being anti-Trump. It's about being pro-democracy, pro-working families, and pro-social justice. And it's about building the swell of grassroots energy that stops Trump. We do that through massive outreach and organizing both in-person and digitally. And we're giving millions of people concrete actions to take to engage and make a difference! Our movememnt is more important than ever, but in the midst of this economy, many can't afford to give like they used to. If you can give, will you start a monthly donation of $5 to MoveOn to help MoveOn fight back against voter suppression and protect Americans' right to cast ballots without fear or intimidation? Yes, I'll chip in $5 a month. (If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately.) No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.
