MoveOn is launching a billboard and online advertising campaign to make it clear who's responsible for America's skyrocketing gas prices: Donald Trump. Please click here right now to donate $9.
Dear MoveOn member,
Gas prices in the United States have risen 50% since the start of Donald Trump's war with Iran on February 28.
There's no relief in sight. And a global fuel expert says that "even if there was a true and lasting resolution of the conflict … it will still take months to get back to what it was pre-war, if not even longer."1
But not all Americans realize that it's Trump who caused this crisis. That's why MoveOn has a hard-hitting, two-part plan to make sure people understand that gas prices are as high as they are—and getting higher—because of Trump.
With your help, we will:
Put up billboards calling out Trump alongside highways in areas of our country where the gas costs are the highest.
Create digital ads that will be geographically targeted to be seen by folks in the highest-gas-cost locations.
Please chip in $9 now. Help us launch and keep up our ad campaign to hold Trump accountable for America's rising gas costs.
In March, Trump had the nerve to say that rising oil prices are "a very small price to pay for U.S.A., and World, Safety and Peace."2
Then, in April, realizing that Americans have rightly started blaming him for the rising fuel prices, Trump told us that we're wrong to feel that way. When asked by a reporter how much longer Americans would continue to see high gas prices, Trump said, "Well, they are not very high."3
What the hell?! The average price of a gallon of gas is $4.50 right now!4 But that's evidently chump change to Trump, who has enriched himself at the cost of the American taxpayer.
Just this week alone, Republicans proposed spending $1 billion on Trump's White House ballroom!5 According to The New Yorker, Trump and his family's profiteering off of the presidency has already exceeded $4 billion.6 Trump is even suing the IRS … for $10 billion.7
Enough! Americans need to know the truth: Trump is spending our money while he pads his own pockets. Meanwhile, thanks to him, we're struggling to pay just for everyday necessities: for housing, groceries, and gas.
MoveOn's new ad campaign will place the blame for the gas cost crisis squarely where it belongs: on Trump's gilded shoulders. Can you help us launch and sustain it by donating 9?
Thanks for all you do.
