MoveOn's team recently combed through and analyzed the numbers from the 2024 election. And when I saw what they found, I nearly spit out my coffee.
In 11 battleground congressional districts, the number of MoveOn members who skipped voting in 2024 exceed the margin of victory needed to flip those seats.
I know this is a gut punch. It means that, on the whole, the Democratic Party failed in 2024. Voters were not compelled, convinced, or mobilized. So folks stayed home, and Donald Trump got back to the White House.
We must not let such a failure happen again.

Cassandra, I've been in politics for more than 50 years and have seen a lot. But I am very impressed by what MoveOn is doing.

I want to be clear: We should not be angry at the MoveOn members who didn't turn out to vote in 2024.
Those voters didn't give up on their values—the candidates gave up on them by not reaching out, and the rigged system made them feel powerless. That's an enormous difference.
In 1994, I warned that our country was already on the way to becoming a two-tiered society.1 In 1997, I warned that America's growing economic divide would undermine the common good.2 For years now, I have been shouting from the rooftops that the Democratic Party cannot keep taking Wall Street's money and then wonder why working people don't trust Democrats.
As a member of Bill Clinton's Cabinet, I already knew that we could not triangulate our way to a mandate. That you cannot whisper when the moment demands that you shout.
It brings me no joy to say, "I told you so." But I've got to ask the question, "Where do we go from here?"
MoveOn understands this great challenge we’re facing and has a strategic, data-informed, laser-targeted approach to doing what needs to be done.

In the weeks and months leading up to Election Day on November 3, 2026, we must commit to getting the largest midterm voter turnout in American history. We need to create not just a blue wave but a blue tsunami.
