Join more than 94,000 MoveOn members who are demanding that Costco sell the abortion pill—sign the petition now!
Dear MoveOn member,
The Supreme Court has temporarily restored mail access to mifepristone—the overwhelmingly safe, FDA-approved abortion pill.1
But let’s be clear: anti-abortion extremists are determined to strip access to medication abortion, and they’re emboldened by Trump’s conservative-packed courts.
Last year, Costco made the decision not to sell mifepristone, citing a lack of demand.2 But if there wasn’t demand for the abortion pill, anti-abortion activists wouldn’t be trying to prevent it from being dispensed to millions of patients.
Now more than ever, we need corporations like Costco to step up and ensure that abortion pills are widely accessible to anyone who needs the medication. Sign the petition now to add your name!
This latest battle in the courts is a result of Louisiana suing the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to restrict access to mifepristone.3 There's no sugar-coating it: since the repeal of Roe v. Wade, anti-abortion extremists are doing everything in their power to prevent access to care.
But companies like Costco can help normalize abortion and fight back against these bad-faith, dangerous attacks on our healthcare. Other major pharmacies, including CVS and Walgreens, have already received certification to dispense mifepristone. There’s no reason Costco can’t follow suit. The company's decision is not about safety or consumer demand—it's about politics. And the people paying the price are customers and patients who deserve access to basic healthcare.
Add your name to call on Costco's CEO to follow the science and make mifepristone available to its customers, just like Walgreens and CVS have done.
Mifepristone is overwhelmingly safe—even safer than penicillin and Viagra (both of which Costco pharmacies stock)—and it’s been FDA-approved for more than two decades.4 Millions of patients have used it safely, making it the most common method of abortion care in the U.S. But despite this, Costco is refusing to get certified to dispense the pill at its pharmacies, buckling under pressure from anti-abortion groups and investors.
Urge Costco to do its part and dispense mifepristone NOW in its 600+ pharmacies across nearly every state.
By refusing to stock mifepristone, Costco is showing that it cares more about caving to extremists than providing a basic medication to its customers. In fact, these anti-abortion extremists are using Costco's stance as proof that they should push harder for companies like CVS and Walgreens to follow suit.5
Trump and his conservative courts are going to keep pushing to restrict access to the abortion pill. We need to show companies like Costco that the demand is here and patients aren’t going to disappear, no matter what his administration tries to do.
We won't accept corporations making healthcare decisions based on far-right pressure campaigns, not science. Tell Costco to dispense mifepristone now.
Thanks for all you do.
