In Houston, an ICE enforcement action just ended in a horrific tragedy when an agent shot and killed Lorenzo Salgado Araujo—a father, grandfather, and business owner who a local lawmaker later revealed wasn't even the target of the operation. And now ICE says it will handle its own investigation into the murder.2
This is the brutal reality of Trump's program running with zero transparency or oversight. And the only reason it's possible is because extreme MAGA Republicans in Congress are completely funding it.

Just last month, House Republicans passed a staggering $70 billion immigration enforcement bill—giving Donald Trump another blank check to implement his deportation crackdown through the end of his term. Every single Democrat opposed it, but Speaker Mike Johnson pushed it through a razor-thin 214-212 MAGA majority.3
Johnson even ignored internal opposition from his own ranks to ensure that the bill included $1 billion for Trump's White House ballroom.4
This shows exactly what Republican representatives care about: funding ICE's abuses, satisfying Trump's every whim, and rewarding his loyalists.
What don't they care about? Your family's budget.
The $70 billion Republicans just handed ICE is on top of $75 billion they received last year—giving it essentially unlimited money. And they did it by cutting $911 billion from Medicaid and allowing Affordable Care Act deductibles to skyrocket by 37%.5
In addition to the harm to countless people, families, and our communities, the ICE operations cost us dearly. Trump’s mass deportation policies are projected to cost the average American family an extra $2,150 per year by 2028.6
Before voters head to the polls on Election Day, they must see the real truth about their representatives. If we can elect populist representatives to Congress, Trump’s enablers will lose their majority, Mike Johnson will lose his gavel, and we can finally put a check on these brutal ICE attacks.
