Dear MoveOn member,
Ninety-five percent of Americans agree: This country has an affordability crisis.1 Groceries, gas, rent, healthcare—it's all become harder to afford, and people are furious about it.
Corporations know this. And instead of lowering prices or ending their predatory practices, they're spending record amounts of money to buy the outcome they want on Election Day.2
A new report from Public Citizen found that corporations have already spent $517 million to influence the 2026 midterms—more than the entire 2024 election cycle and nearly triple what corporations spent in the last midterm elections, in 2022.3 More than half of that—$294 million—comes from just four industries: cryptocurrency, artificial intelligence, Big Tech, and online betting.
We cannot and will not try to outspend them. We need to out-organize them—by reaching the millions of people who share our values but have checked out of a system that's stopped working for them.
Will you chip in $9 right now to power MoveOn's 2026 election program? (If you have saved your payment information with ActBlue, your donation will go straight through.)
Here's what that corporate money is actually buying:
Big Tech has poured $60 million into this election, $50 million of it from a single venture capital firm, Andreessen Horowitz, and funneled into a Super PAC called Leading the Future. The stated goal of this Super PAC is simple: grow the number of "pro-AI candidates" in Congress—meaning candidates who'll do the industry's bidding, not yours.4
Crypto is the biggest spender of all, putting in $189 million so far—more than a third of all corporate election spending this cycle. Most of that is going to two Super PACs: Fairshake, which has raked in $82.6 million from crypto corporations, and MAGA Inc., which has received $56.2 million from the industry.5
These are what Public Citizen calls “corporate supremacist super PACs”—built to punish any lawmaker, Democrat or Republican, who doesn't put crypto and AI profits first.6
That's exactly the kind of corporate takeover MoveOn was built to fight—and it's the focus of our 2026 election program.
Our program is focused on MoveOn members who didn't vote in 2024—not because they don't care but because too many of them stopped believing the political system, or the Democratic Party, would actually fight for them. They watched corporate money shape policy, watched Democrats bend the knee or offer caution when the moment demanded fury, so they decided their vote wouldn't change much.
Our program is built to tackle that frustration head-on. We're not asking these voters to trust the system as it is. We're giving them a reason to: MoveOn has endorsed candidates across the country who will take on corporate power instead of bowing to it, and our election program makes that case directly, member to member, in the communities where trust has run out.
They have $517 million from corporations. We have you. Donate $9 now to power MoveOn’s election program and elect affordability candidates who will fight for us. (If you have saved your payment information with ActBlue, your donation will go straight through.)
The billionaires and corporations think their money will win and continue to rig our system. We're going to prove them wrong.
Thanks for all you do.
