The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) must answer to the American people.
We have seen a catastrophic outbreak of cyclospora, which has spread to 45 states and led to a staggering 24,000 infections and more than 740 hospitalizations.1
More than 1.6 million cartons of eggs sold across 17 states have been recalled due to a potential salmonella contamination.2
More than 12,000 pounds of raw bacon was recalled after it was discovered that it had not been properly inspected upon importation from Canada.3
Enough is enough. Trump’s FDA is making our food less safe and Americans sick. It’s time for the Senate to act, and they can start by calling in the head of the Acting FDA Commissioner Kyle Diamantas, and the Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. to testify.

The American people deserve to know and trust that the food we buy and eat is safe and won’t make us sick, but under the Trump administration, that hasn’t been the case.
Almost two years into Trump’s second term and the FDA has lost 20% of its staff—including 1 in 5 positions from its human-food inspection division, and the CDC has lost 25% of its staff –now with only three scientists tracking food parasites.4,5
None of this is sustainable and none of it had to happen.
As a part of his mission to cut out government "waste" and minimize bureaucracy, Trump and RFK Jr. have put the health of the American public in danger. Add your name to the petition now to investigate the FDA for its failure to keep our food systems safe!
In 2025, Trump eliminated the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Advisory Committee on Microbiological Criteria for Foods, which was created in 1988 under President Ronald Reagan to provide scientific advice and coordination to defend against dangerous microbes.6
The administration also ended the mandatory tracking of cyclospora and other foodborne illnesses, which the FDA was responsible for in partnership with other key agencies like the CDC.7
The Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee oversees the FDA and it’s time they hear from us and hold investigative hearings now. Tell the HELP Committee: Investigate the FDA now!
