NPR is saying that “Democrats' advantage is clear with less than a month to go in the midterm elections.”1 But here’s the reality: Democrats taking back control of Congress will come down to only a handful of very competitive races, and one of them is happening in your backyard.
MoveOn has identified some of the most critical races across the country this cycle—from Senate races we can actually flip, to House races we must win to take back the House. And Cassandra, you live in one of these places. The election happening in your community this November is the main event—one of the races that will determine who actually holds power in Congress next year and if we can rein in Trump’s attacks. But we all need to act if we want to secure a victory.
Every week, MoveOn members like you are joining phone banks to call other members in these must-win districts and states. Together, we’re making sure we are all ready to show up and vote in this critical election. Signing up is easy and there are lots of options:
We’ve looked at the data and found that MoveOn members alone have the power to flip some of these most competitive seats around the country. In 11 battleground districts, the number of MoveOn members who voted in 2020 but skipped voting in 2024 exceeds the margin of victory needed to win these races in the 2026 midterms. And it’ll take all of us making calls to reach those voters.
These MoveOn member voters who stayed home didn’t stop caring—they stopped believing that the establishment politicians on their ballot were going to do anything to help them. For too long we’ve seen status-quo politicians on both sides prioritize their corporate, billionaire donors over the working class constituents they were elected to serve.
That’s why MoveOn has only endorsed progressive champions like Abdul El-Sayed and Justin J. Pearson who are refusing corporate PAC money and are committed to lowering costs and standing up to the ultra-wealthy.

The progressive candidates running in these highly contested races are up against millions in outside spending from special interest groups, corporate PACS, and billionaires who want our government to keep working for them and not everyday people. But we have something they don’t—people power. These calls work, but only if we keep showing up and putting in the work.
